Earthquake: 3.2 quake strikes near Desert Hot Springs, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported Saturday evening five miles from Desert Hot Springs, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9:35 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was six miles from Yucca Valley, Calif., 14 miles from Palm Springs, Calif. and 16 miles from Cathedral City, Calif.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
