KEY MOMENT: Dodgers starter Brett Anderson had a 4-0 lead, one out shy of pitching the minimum five innings needed for the victory. But Anderson walked the Giants’ No.8 hitter, shortstop Brandon Crawford, then gave up three consecutive hits, and he was gone. The Giants scored three runs in that fifth inning, forcing the Dodgers into another night of heavy bullpen use.

AT THE PLATE: Joc Pederson homered, doubled, walked and drove in two runs. Pederson is batting .296, and his .458 on-base percentage ranks among the top 10 in the major leagues. Justin Turner hit a three-run homer, the first pinch-hit home run of his career.

ON THE MOUND: The Dodgers’ bullpen provided 41/3 scoreless innings. Rookie Yimi Garcia struck out two in one inning; he has faced 40 batters this season and struck out 18.

EXTRA BASES: Alex Guerrero did not start Monday, despite a .500 batting average and home runs in each of the three previous games in which he had an at-bat. Manager Don Mattingly said Guerrero soon could get at-bats at shortstop, third base and left field. … Carl Crawford, the Dodgers’ starting left fielder, left Monday’s game in the third inning with what the team called “tightness in his right side.” … For the moment, the Dodgers replaced the injured Brandon McCarthy by recalling left-handed reliever Adam Liberatore from triple-A Oklahoma City. The move gave the Dodgers a nine-man bullpen, which figures to last until they call up a starter to take McCarthy’s next turn. … The Dodgers sold left-handed reliever Xavier Cedeno to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. The Dodgers claimed Cedeno last week, then designated him for assignment but failed to get him through waivers so he could stay in the organization.

UP NEXT: The Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw (1-1, 4.07) faces the Giants’ Madison Bumgarner (1-1, 4.63) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. TV: SportsNet LA. Radio: 570, 1020.
