Netflix renews ‘Hemlock Grove’ for third and final season

“Hemlock Grove,” the supernatural thriller series executive produced by Eli Roth, may not get the Emmy attention its Netflix colleagues “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black” receive, but enough people appear to be watching it to justify a third season.

The series will return for a 10-episode third season in 2015 and provide a definitive end for the story.

Based on the novel of the same name by Brian McGreevy, the series is a murder mystery set in a blue-collar Pennsylvania town in which one of its main characters happens to be a werewolf.

The series stars Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgård, Landon Liboiron, Dougray Scott, Madeleine Martin, Madeline Brewer, Kaniehtiio Horn, Joel de la Fuente and Demore Barnes.

In a statement, show runner and executive producer Chic Eglee said, “Knowing [this season] will be our last gives us the opportunity to go out in a mushroom cloud of clever and soul shattering mayhem.”

The critics haven’t been kind to the series. In her review when the show debuted in 2013, Times critic Mary McNamara described it as “terrible in ways that mock the meaning of the word ‘terrible.’”
