Share

A group of teenagers hiding their faces with white bandannas spray-painted more than three dozen areas on the Palmdale High School campus Saturday night and broke the windows of numerous vehicles parked at the school, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the school in 2100 block of East Avenue R shortly before midnight to find six sedans and a pickup truck with smashed windows in the northwest corner of the campus, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Three windows in a building near the vehicles were also smashed. An Apple computer monitor believed to have been taken from the school was found nearby. Deputies were unable to access the building to determine whether any vandalism or theft had occurred inside, authorities said.

Deputies found about 37 spots on school walls and on the ground that were spray painted with profanity, obscene depictions and “possible monikers,” authorities said.

The damage has been preliminarily estimated at $27,000, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses told deputies that a group of three or four male teenagers fled the campus on foot. Deputies were unable to locate any suspects.

The incident remains under investigation.
