The wait is (almost) over: Kendrick Lamar’s new album out March 23

Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated new album finally has a release date.

The Compton rapper’s next effort will arrive March 23, according to an iTunes pre-sale that went up on Friday.

Lamar quietly tweeted out the link to the pre-sale to his more than 4.6 million followers, However, details on the follow-up to “good kid, m.A.A.d. city” still remain scarce.

The 16-track album is listed as “Untitled” and contains no track names -- save for the fiery, recently released “The Blacker the Berry” -- or album art (a blacked-out square is all that’s visible now).

Lamar has certainly taken his time teasing fans with new material from the project.

First, there was his euphoric, Isley Brothers-sampling single, “i,” which landed him his first Grammy Award -- although no word if the track is included on the album.

He also debuted a slow-burning, as-yet-unnamed number on “The Colbert Report” late last year before releasing “Berry” last month.
