The Anaheim Ducks score two goals in the third period of Game 2 to defeat the Calgary Flames, 3-0, and take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven playoff series.

Here are three keys to the outcome of Game 2:

1. Ryan Kesler is made for playoff hockey

Or is playoff hockey made for the gritty center? He set up Matt Beleskey’s first-period goal by threading a pass through two defenders on the rush, and he was assertive on every shift he took.

2. Karri Ramo was brilliant

Karri Ramo was brilliant in his first NHL playoff start, especially during a first-period barrage by the Ducks. He controlled rebounds well and seemed to see through every screen created in front of him.

3. Second-period letdowns

Those were a problem for the Ducks during the season, but they seemed to have gotten past that in the playoffs. Until Sunday, anyway, when they committed many turnovers and let the Flames control the play. Still, the Ducks protected their 1-0 lead until Hampus Lindholm rifled home an insurance goal at 11:15 of the third period.
