SAG Awards 2015: Felicity Jones’ knotted ‘do took some work

Share

At first glance, the hairstyle Felicity Jones wore on the SAG Awards red carpet looked pretty simple. It gave the illusion that she’d stepped out of the shower, slicked her hair back and twisted it into a knot in the back that kind of reminded me of cartoon character Olive Oyl’s signature look.

But no, red carpet looks are never simple. A lot went into this style, created by celebrity hair dresser Alex Polillo to complement the neckline of Jones’ Balenciaga gown.

Polillo used John Frieda products, and here’s how he got “The Theory of Everything” co-star ready, according to a company news release:

  • Polillo applied three pumps of John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz-Immunity Primer to wet hair.

  • Next, he used a Mason Pearson brush as he blew-dry hair away from Jones’ face, spritzing John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray at the crown for some added texture.

  • Once the hair was dry, Polillo layered John Frieda Frizz Ease Clearly Defined Holding Gel through the sides and back, using only a slight amount on the roots, so it wouldn’t take away volume from the crown. Then he used a small toothbrush to make sure the hairline was straight and streamlined into the rest of the hair.

  • After gathering hair into a sleek ponytail, Polillo doubled it and secured it into a knot at the base of the neck, allowing the straight ends to stick out.

  • To finish the look, Polillo misted John Frieda Frizz Ease KERAFLEX Flexible Hold Hairspray to lock in the style.
