Spring fashion blossoms into a bright floral display

Share

Even in California where blossoms are prevalent year-round, nothing says springtime quite like flowers. And when it comes to fashion, we’re not talking dainty, delicate buds.

This spring’s florals are bold, exuberant bouquets. Looks can have a 1970s vibe (Rawhyde Manufacturing Co.’s free-spirited tie, handcrafted in Los Angeles) or be minimalist and graphic (Marni’s peony-embellished handbag) or hint of dark romance (Givenchy’s T-shirt, grounded in black). Style the latter with some fierce gladiator footwear, as seen on Givenchy’s runway.

Even frill-seekers should be advised that the look is far from precious. Mix a blossoming accent with unfussy, tailored pieces or the season’s new denim.

Michael Kors got the balance just right at his spring presentation by tucking a crisp, poplin button-down into a floaty tulle skirt embroidered with daffodils and marigolds. The perfect finishing touch? Slightly disheveled, devil-may-care hair.
