Driver flees after injuring family of three, killing their dog, police say

Share

Police are looking for a driver who plowed into a family of three Sunday in South Pasadena, injuring a 4-month-old girl and killing the family dog.

A 40-year-old man, his wife -- who was holding their infant -- and the family dog were taking in an evening walk about 7:30 p.m. just before they were hit, according to the South Pasadena Police Department.

As they entered the crosswalk at the intersection of Orange Grove Avenue and Columbia Street, a driver in a newer-model, dark-colored sport utility vehicle turned from Columbia into them.

The driver never stopped, driving away south on Orange Grove, police said.

The mother and baby are expected to recover and are receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The father was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

No other descriptions were available about the driver, and there were no cameras in the area, which is well lighted, Det. Frank Litterini said.

So far, police don’t know much about the driver but are hoping someone who saw something during that time could help them.

“We are kind of stuck,” he said.

Anyone with details about the driver is urged to call the South Pasadena Police Department Detective Bureau at (626) 403-7280.
