Las Vegas: You can tour TV’s ‘Counting Cars’ garage

Share

As the launch of the second season of the History Channel’s “Counting Cars” nears, Danny “The Count” Koker can likely expect an increase in visitors to Count’s Kustoms, the Las Vegas garage where he restores and sells classic cars and motorcycles.

Koker’s shop is where most of the filming is done for “Counting Cars,” which returns April 9. In this garage, “The Count” and his team have been working with Ziggy Marley on the restoration of the last vehicle owned by his father, reggae star Bob Marley. The 1980 Mercedes 500SL Euro will be featured in an upcoming episode.

The garage, just west of the Strip, is also where Koker keeps much of his personal collection of vehicles. At last count, the inventory included 58 cars and 78 cycles.

Free tours of the garage, including the large showroom in which much of his collection is displayed, are available 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Occasionally filming for the TV series may restrict the scope of the tours and limit the availability of Koker and his crew.

The self-taught mechanic with seemingly boundless knowledge of motor vehicles sometimes uses unconventional means to get his hands on a car he wants. More than once, he has flagged down passing cars, offering drivers cash-on-the-spot for their rides.

Counts Customs is between Las Vegas Boulevard and Interstate 15 at 2714 S. Highland Drive in Las Vegas.
