It was the battle of the aces on Wednesday night in the Trinity League. Collin Quinn of JSerra took on Chris Burica of Orange Lutheran.

The only run of the game was driven in by Davis Wendzel in the third inning in JSerra’s 1-0 victory that moved the Lions into sole possession of first place.

Quinn struck out six and allowed two hits in seven innings. Burica struck out five and allowed six hits. JSerra has won the first two games of a three-game series, with the final game Friday at Hart Park.

Santa Margarita 2, Mater Dei 1: Chandler Champlain threw five innings and Alec Telles got the save for the Eagles. Derek Park had two hits and two RBIs. Champlain added two hits.

Servite 6, St. John Bosco 3: The Friars won the game in eight innings.

South Hills 7, Bonita 4: It took 11 innings before South Hills prevailed and took over first place in the Palomares League. John Dearth keyed a three-run 11th with a two-run double.

Ayala 5, Glendora 4: Ayala won the Palomares League game.

El Camino Real 3, Granada Hills 0: Jeremy Polon and James Terrazas combined on a four-hitter in the West Valley League victory. Polon threw six innings. Dane Reed and Matt Cassin each had two hits.

Chatsworth 17, Taft 0: The Chancellors cruised to the West Valley League wins. Zach Kaminkow and Andrew Renteria had two hits and three RBIs.

Birmingham 12, Cleveland 2: The Patriots won in five innings. Alexis Miranda threw all five innings for Birmingham, which received three hits form Alberto Lopez. Jorge Navarrete, Champ Garner and Matt Garcia each had two RBIs. Sam Villa was the losing pitcher.

Chaminade 10, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 9: The Knights scored three runs in the seventh but fell short in the Mission League game. Blake Mann had three hits and two RBIs for Chaminade. Anthony Acosta had three RBIs. Colin Brophy finished with three hits and three RBIs for Notre Dame.

Harvard-Westlake 7, Crespi 1: Cameron Deere threw six innings, striking out five, and Jake Suddleson hit his eighth home run in a Mission League win. Gabe Golob struck out three in pitching one inning in his season debut. John Thomas had three hits. Jake Greenberg had three hits for Crespi.

Loyola 6, St. Francis 2: Holden Groff threw shutout ball for 5 1/3 innings, striking out six for the first-place Cubs in a Mission League game. Beamin Carter had a two-run triple and Derek Marshall had a two-run single.

Edison 3, Huntington Beach 2: Connor Aoki had a walk-off single in the seventh in the Sunset League game. Hagen Danner and Ben McConnell hit home runs for Huntington Beach. Vince Inman threw a complete game.

Marina 9, Fountain Valley 1: The Vikings stayed in first place in the Sunset League.

Newport Harbor 14, Los Alamitos 3: The Sailors won the Sunset League game.

Capistrano Valley 4, Tesoro 1: Connor Martin finished with three hits and two RBIs. Zak Herbers struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings.

Cypress 2, Pacifica 1: Raul Salazar struck out five and allowed four hits in the victory. Dominic Fletcher had two hits.

Mission Viejo 9, Trabuco Hills 0: Tanner Bibee threw the complete game, allowing two hits.

El Dorado 4, Esperanza 3: Garrett Stark had two hits for El Dorado.

Etiwanda 3, Damien 1: Vincent Mughannem threw a five-hitter.

Agoura 2, Thousand Oaks 0: Michael Weisberg struck out nine in six shutout innings.

Oaks Christian 7, Calabasas 3: Dane Morrow picked up the Marmonte League victory and also contributed two hits, three RBIs and a home run. Phil Quartararo added two hits and three RBIs.

Westlake 12, Newbury Park 6: Tyler Flores hit a home run and finished with three RBIs for the Warriors. Bo Jelinek added two hits and three RBIs. Zach Clarke had three hits for Newbury Park.

Santa Barbara 4, Santa Ynez 3: The Dons scored in the bottom of the ninth to pull out the victory. Kevin Gowdy pithed six innings, striking out nine.

Foothill 9, Villa Park 7: Drake Wood hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to break a 6-6 tie.

Valencia 12, Canyon 4: Trace Eldridge hit a grand slam for the first-place Vikings in a Foothill League game.

Hart 15, Golden Valley 0: Grant Thuente finished with four hits for Hart.

Saugus 12, West Ranch 5: Tyler Grissom went four for four with two RBIs for the Centurions.

Quartz Hill 5, Palmdale 4: The Rebels improved to 9-0 in the Golden League. Sophomore Tyler Vargas had two hits.

Simi Valley 22, Oak Park 1: Blake Shannon went four for five with five RBIs and Shea Barry hit a grand slam to lead the Pioneers.

Redondo 2, Peninsula 1: It took 10 innings to decide this Bay League game. Sean Reynolds struck out 12 in eight innings for Redondo.

Temescal Canyon 10, Elsinore 5: Christian Bruno hit two home runs and finished with four RBIs.

Corona Centennial 5, Corona Santiago 2: Matt Shea had two hits and three RBIs for the Huskies. Brandon Hicks threw a complete game.

Bellflower 7, Cerritos 2: Ricky Ramos improved to 8-0 with a complete game.

Long Beach Wilson 4, Long Beach Millikan 3: Jack Williford struck out eight for Wilson in the Moore League win.
