Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton says he’ll be ready for spring training

Seven weeks after extensive surgery on his left knee, Texas slugger Josh Hamilton said Thursday that he anticipates being fully healthy and ready when the Rangers get to spring training in Arizona before next season.

“I’m just really excited that I feel like’s it better, I feel like it’s fixed,” said Hamilton, a former Angel.

During surgery June 8 in Houston, Hamilton’s anterior cruciate ligament was reconstructed. Dr. Walt Lowe also repaired meniscus and lateral cartilage in the knee.

The San Francisco Giants acquired All-Star infielder Eduardo Nunez from the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night in exchange for minor league pitcher Adalberto Mejia. Nunez was batting .300 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs this season for the Twins and was leading the American League with 26 steals at the time of the trade.
