Boys’ basketball: Santa Barbara is 22-1 after victory over Oxnard

Santa Barbara High has won 22 of 23 games this season. The latest victory was a 65-54 triumph over Oxnard in a Channel League game on Wednesday night.

Nick Busch scored 28 points and Bolden Brace 24 for the Dons.

In the Del Rey League, Gardena Serra is coming on strong. The Cavaliers knocked off Cathedral, 83-78. Micah Dykes scored 22 points and sophomore Kobe Smith had 17 points. Bishop Montgomery remained unbeaten with a 51-39 win over Cantwell-Sacred Heart. Ethan Thomas scored 21 points.

In the Mission League, Alemany defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 61-44. DJ McDonald scored 18 points, Earnie Sears 17 and Brandon Davis 15. Loyola defeated Chaminade, 64-49, with Rahsheed Clarke scoring 13 points and Josh Lavergne and Khristion Couresault adding 10 apiece. Harvard-Westlake received 28 points from freshman Cassius Stanley in a 74-66 upset of Crespi.

In the Trinity League, Orange Lutheran stayed in second place with a 76-75 win over St. John Bosco. It was the second consecutive one-point win for the Lancers. Joseph Riley scored 21 points, Zac Jervis 17 and Chris Williams 16. JJ Watson led St. John Bosco with 26.

“I’m aging,” Orange Lutheran Coach Chris Nordstrom said.

Mater Dei defeated Servite, 74-48. Matt Weyland scored 16 points. MJ Cage returned to score 11 points and collect six blocks. Mater Dei is 19-3 and 6-0. Santa Margarita defeated JSerra, 75-64. Colin Ferrier had 20 points for Santa Margarita. Alec Hickman led JSerra with 23 points.

In the Western League, Fairfax defeated LACES, 86-40. Antoine Monroe had 13 points. Will Johnson scored 28 points in Palisades’ 75-35 win over Hamilton.

In the East Valley League, Sean Fernandez scored 44 points in North Hollywood’s 68-33 win over Arleta. Grant won its 11th consecutive game with an 89-60 win over Chavez. Chad Holloway scored 20 points and Alex McQueen had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

In the Marine League, Narbonne defeated Washington, 79-63. Psalm Maduakor scored 23 points, D’mauria Jones had 19 points and Anthony Langston 14.

In the Coliseum League, View Park defeated Crenshaw, 68-67. Antoine Jenkins had 25 points.

In the Eastern League, Sheldon Brookins scored 21 points in South Gate’s 70-52 win over Garfield.

Camarillo routed Simi Valley, 72-59.

Oak Park defeated Royal, 67-53. Riley Battin scored 42 points and had 17 rebounds.

Wayne Arnold scored 30 points in Dominguez’s 72-56 win over Gahr.

St. Bonaventure defeated Santa Clara, 53-41. Thomas Frank had 18 points and 15 rebounds. St. Bonaventure is 6-0 in the Tri-Valley League.

Mayfair handed La Mirada its first loss in the Suburban League with a 74-50 victory.

Joel Finney of Central City scored 33 points in a 97-60 win over Downtown Business Magnet.

Santa Monica defeated El Segundo, 63-41.
