Nicole Kidman’s father, clinical psychologist and researcher Tony Kidman, died in Singapore on Friday morning.

“Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father,” a rep for the “Moulin Rouge” actress said Friday. “She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time.”

Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman’s husband, bailed out of a charity concert in Thousand Oaks at the last minute Thursday night -- Friday morning, Singapore time -- to head to Nashville to be with his wife, TMZ reported.

The elder Kidman, who was with the University of Technology, Sydney, collapsed in a restaurant at the private Tamblin Club shortly after his morning exercise, according to the Daily Mail in Australia. A doctor who was present unsuccessfully tried to revive him using CPR, Singapore’s Straits Times said, with paramedics taking over the effort upon arrival.

Tony Kidman, reportedly in his 70s or 80s, was pronounced dead at a hospital just minutes from the club.

Though the Straits Times blamed an “apparent heart attack,” other reports are saying the psychologist died in a fall. Police who confirmed his passing told the Associated Press they were investigating the “unnatural death,” which in Singapore is a death not clearly related to illness.

Tony Kidman was staying at the club, where his son-in-law is a member, while reportedly visiting his younger daughter, Antonia. His wife of 50 years, Janelle Kidman, was not with him.

TV personality and journalist Antonia Kidman, 44, who has two children with husband Craig Marran and four with her first husband, was maid of honor for her sister when Nicole, 47, married Tom Cruise in 1990 and again when she married Urban in 2006.
