FKA Twigs says she has been exposed to a lot of hate and racism -- and that includes the mainstream sort that came from sparking up a romance with “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson.

“Twihards,” the legion of fans of Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” books and the films based on them, didn’t hold back when they learned the actor was dating the edgy recording artist and that there was little to no hope of him rekindling his romance with former costar Kristen Stewart. (Bella and Edward forever and all that.)

And they weren’t the only ones who did a double take over the surprise coupling.

“It is pretty horrible,” the singer-songwriter said of the attacks in the June/July issue of Complex. “But ultimately, I’m in an amazing relationship. So it doesn’t matter.”

The musician, 27, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, and the actor, 29, started dating in August and are said to be engaged -- at least that’s the story that unfolded on April Fool’s Day when her collaborator, rapper T-Pain, slipped and revealed (and subsequently retracted) news of possible forthcoming nuptials. Neither Pattinson nor Twigs confirmed the engagement, though they did make their relationship red-carpet official last month at the Met Gala, where she sported a unique ring on that finger.

In Complex, the British musician doesn’t say much about her beau, but the actor answers the door when Complex writer Cedar Pasori visits the artist for their second interview.

“I’d rather not talk about it,” she says about the news being broken the way it was, just sounding genuinely sad, Pasori wrote. “It’s fine, I’m a pretty chill person, do you know what I mean? ... If you can’t touch it, it’s not real.”

Incidentally, the last part of that quote is a lyric from “Figure 8,” the first track on her forthcoming album “EP3.”

As for the racism she has experienced, Twigs said last September that she was “genuinely shocked and disgusted” by the amount of racism that surfaced on Twitter.

“Racism is unacceptable in the real world, and it’s unacceptable online,” she tweeted at the time.

Now, she’s developed a thicker skin but that doesn’t mean some of the negativity doesn’t get to her.

“I wouldn’t say I’m completely numb to it now, but there’s definitely a numbness there,” the “Glass & Patron” singer said.

Oh, look! I’m on Twitter @NardineSaad.
