An autopsy has been conducted on the body of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who died Sunday evening at an Atlanta-area hospice nearly six months after she was found unresponsive in the home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon, authorities said Monday.

Also Monday, Gordon’s mother spoke out on behalf of herself and her son, who was raised from age 12 by Whitney Houston as a sort of unofficial brother to Bobbi Kristina and was later prevented from visiting the 22-year-old in the hospital, a rehab center and the hospice where she spent her final weeks.

“The passing of Bobbi Kristina is devastating to Nick and our family,” Michele Gordon said in a statement. “Nick loved and cared for Krissi deeply, and he has suffered greatly each and every day they’ve been apart. Nick and our family are in mourning, and we ask that you respect our privacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with both the Houstons and the Browns during this difficult time.”

Pat Houston had a restraining order against Nick Gordon before her niece Krissi’s hospitalization. On the reality series “The Houstons: On Our Own,” which aired after Whitney’s death, the family made it clear they didn’t approve of the relationship.

Bobbi Kristina’s legal conservator filed a $10-million lawsuit on her behalf against Nick the day after she was moved to hospice care, alleging he had physically abused his girlfriend — including knocking out teeth and dragging her up stairs — controlled her and had taken a significant amount of money from her without permission, $11,000 of it after she’d been hospitalized.

Initial autopsy results Monday revealed no obvious cause of death, and no significant injuries were noted, the Fulton County, Ga., medical examiner’s office said. However, test results were pending.

“We do not plan to complete the death certificate or determine a cause and manner of death until all test results are completed and all investigative, medical, and other documentary records are received and thoroughly reviewed,” the office said.

Previously, the M.E. had said the long stretch of time between when Bobbi Kristina was found and when she died would “complicate reconstruction of the events surrounding her initial unresponsiveness” and make interpretation of the autopsy results and other information “challenging.”

The Fulton County D.A.’s office and police in Roswell, Ga., told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the events leading to Bobbi Kristina’s death were under investigation. TMZ heard from its law-enforcement sources that this was now a homicide investigation, with some sort of foul play suspected and Nick Gordon reportedly remaining a person of interest.

Gordon and a male friend were in the home Jan. 31 when Bobbi Kristina was found in the tub. Nick Gordon has since assembled a legal team with experience in high-profile, tabloid-bait trials.

A funeral for the only daughter of singer Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston reportedly will be held in Atlanta before she’s buried in New Jersey along with her mom, according an Entertainment Tonight source.
