Video: Emmys 2014 red-carpet rewind

Share

Gussied-up celebrities in glittery sequins, sparkling jewels and dapper tuxedos made their way along the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet on Monday, and for sartorial spectators, it was all in the details.

Away from the din of the shutterbugs, the stars and nominees cheerfully greeted one another and chatted up red-carpet reporters about television’s biggest night.

For those wondering what it’s like to be amid the trendy thoroughfare, Los Angeles Times videographers Bethany Mollenkof and Spencer Bakalar captured candid moments from this year’s lead-up to the Nokia Theatre event, peppered with details of swirling draperies, taut bow ties and perfected hair flips.

Glimpse Betsy Brandt’s manicure and homage to her “Breaking Bad” alter ego’s penchant for purple, Cicely Tyson’s bountifully shimmering cap and Minnie Driver fanning herself to stay cool on the sweltering promenade.

“House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey made jokes, perennial Emmy winner and “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons jittered, and Laverne Cox fluttered her eyelashes in a way that would make her character Sophia Burset hold her head high.
