Tom Brady is free to prepare for the New England Patriots' season opener one week from now.

That's because U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman ruled in favor of the star quarterback and the NFL Players Assn. in New York on Thursday, effectively lifting the four-game suspension league Commissioner Roger Goodell had given Brady for his perceived role in the "Deflategate" scandal.

The league can appeal the decision.

In his written opinion, Berman said Brady's suspension was “premised upon several significant legal deficiencies.”

The judge also had several issues with the way the NFL handled the situation, pointing out that Brady had no notice that he could be suspended for four games for general awareness of ball deflation, taking part in such a scheme or failing to cooperate with an investigation.

Berman also said Brady didn't have access to investigative files and did not get to examine a lead investigator.

So that's how Berman feels, but what do you think? Do you agree with his decision to lift Brady's suspension? Let us know by voting in our poll.
