Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch ended his holdout on Thursday after missing the first week of training camp.

Lynch, 28, who is set to make up to $5.5 million this season with the Seahawks including roster bonuses, was looking for a new contract with the Super Bowl champions. The organization didn’t think that was the way to go, and Lynch’s holdout could cost him up to $495,000 in fines, according to the Associated Press.

“It’s a contract for a reason,” Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll told USA Today earlier this week. “We made a decision and it was signed, by us and by them. We expect them to honor their contract just as we will. We’re going to honor it and we expect them to do the same.

“Beast Mode” is under contract through the 2015 season and is scheduled to earn up to $7.5 million in the final year of his contact.

In his absence, running backs Robert Turbin and Christine Michael got their chance to make their mark at training camp. Turbin and Michael combined for 343 yards in 95 carries last season.

Lynch has had more than 300 carries in each of the past two seasons for the Seahawks for a total of 2,847 yards and 23 touchdowns.
