Tiger Woods still thinks he will beat Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major championships

Tiger Woods is 40 years old. He has won 14 major championships, but none since 2007. And he hasn’t played golf competitively in 14 months as he recovers from multiple back surgeries.

PBS’ Charlie Rose asked Woods on Wednesday if he believes he’ll get to Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major championships.

Woods answered. “To be honest with you, no.”

Probably not the answer anyone expected from Woods. Rose followed by asking, “You’ve accepted that?”

Said Woods: “I’ve accepted I’m gonna get more.”

Now that’s the Tiger we know and love! He also refused to agree with the statement that Nicklaus is the greatest golfer that lived, telling Rose, “I think I’m pretty good too.”

The full interview will be broadcast Thursday night on “Charlie Rose: This Week on PBS.” Portions were shown earlier on “CBS This Morning.”
