Tim Tebow is not ready to hang the cleats despite snapping his last football in a regular-season NFL game with the New York Jets in 2012.

Though he was with the Eagles last off-season, the team later released him before the beginning of the 2015 season. Still, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner does other work outside of football to keep himself busy.

Tebow appeared on “The Doug Gottlieb Show” on CBS Sports Radio on Thursday and host Gottlieb went straight to the serious question.

“Tim, if a team calls you right now and says ‘We need you in camp tomorrow’ do you go?”

“[Laughing] I gotta look at it, I gotta figure out the situation,” said Tebow. “Not necessarily be opposed to it but you never know.”

Tebow shined during his playing days at the University of Florida. Besides winning the Heisman, some of his other highlights as a Gator were leading the team to a BCS championship, two SEC championships, a Sugar Bowl win, and being a First-Team All American twice.

He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL draft, but his success during his collegiate days did not transition to the NFL. He played five seasons in the league with Denver, New York Jets, New England, and Philadelphia, but was only on the off-season practice team with the Patriots and Eagles.

“Do you still have football in you?” asked Gottlieb.

“I mean I think for me, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in,” Tebow said. “You know I’m still young, I still feel really good. So is that something that I feel like I can be an effective quarterback in the NFL? Yeah, I really do feel like I could be. But I think at the same time, there are a lot of other things that I’m doing that I love and that I’m blessed to do.”

“Whether that’s being part of college football, whether that’s -- I just wrote another book -- whether that’s what my foundation is doing in 16 other countries,” he continued. “I’m extremely busy doing a lot of things I love to do and football is just one thing that I love to do. But it can’t become your everything because eventually you’re not going to be able to play, whether that’s today or five years from now. And if it’s your everything, then when you’re done what do you do?”

Tebow fans shouldn’t hold their breath for his return on the gridiron.
