Less than a month ago, the international bobsled and skeleton federation changed its rules to open the four-man bobsled event to women.

Now U.S. veteran Elana Meyers Taylor is taking advantage.

The two-time Olympic medalist plans to pilot a sled in the U.S. national races in Park City, Utah, next month with three men -- including husband Nic Taylor -- as her push athletes.

“My birthday wish came true,” the racer tweeted on Friday. “Meet my 4man crew.”

Dustin Greenwood and Adrian Adams will also be part of the team.

Traditionally, women have raced only two-person sleds in major competitions.

FIBT officials had expected a quick response to the new rule announced in late September. Kaillie Humphries, a two-time Olympic gold medalist from Canada, immediately voiced her desired to race with the men.

“We follow the spirit and movements of our time,” FIBT President Ivo Ferriani said last month. “There is a strong belief in the FIBT that men and women can compete together in four-man.”
