Detroit Tigers reportedly bring in pitcher Jordan Zimmermann
The Detroit Tigers reportedly have made the first major free-agent pickup of the baseball off-season, agreeing to terms Sunday with right-handed starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann, pending a physical, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
The deal is expected to be for five years and $110 million, according to Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports.
Zimmermann, 29, posted a 13-10 record and 3.66 earned-run average last season with the Nationals, striking out 164 batters in 201 2/3 innings.
He has thrown more than 190 innings in each of the last four seasons, with two All-Star appearances.
The Tigers sank to last place in 2015 after four straight AL Central titles, in large part because their rotation slipped when Max Scherzer signed with Washington as a free agent.
