Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell has suspension reduced from three to two games
Le’Veon Bell will miss only the first two games of the season after the NFL reduced his punishment under the league’s policy for substance abuse.
Bell was handed a three-game suspension in April. He was charged with marijuana possession and DUI in August. He appealed that punishment.
As part of a program for first-time offenders, Bell is serving 15 months’ probation and eventually could have his legal record cleared.
The lighter suspension is great news for Steelers fans. As a second-year player last year, Bell became a key part of the team’s offense, rushing for 1,361 yards and eight touchdowns and catching 83 passes for 854 yards and three touchdowns.
During the off-season the Steelers signed former Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams, who likely will start in Bell’s absence.
