No surprise here: Rory McIlroy’s peers on the PGA Tour have voted him player of the year.

Tour officials posted the ballot results Wednesday, also announcing that Chesson Hadley has been named rookie of the year.

For McIlroy -- the world’s top-ranked player -- this marks the second time in three seasons that he has captured his sport’s top award.

“Thanks everyone for all the @PGATOUR Player of the Year congrats!” he tweeted. “Always an honor for your hard work to be recognized by your peers!”

An impressive streak saw McIlroy grab all three of his Tour victories in succession and become the first player since 2008 to win back-to-back majors with wins at the British Open and the PGA Championship. The 25-year-old also recorded a 68.83 adjusted scoring average and a dozen Top 10 finishes, both of which ranked best among all players.

All that solid golf added up to $8.2 million in prize money.

Hadley, 27, finished 49th in the FedEx Cup standings and, at $1.7 million, was 58th on the official money list.

“My congratulations to Rory and Chesson for their outstanding accomplishments that earned them season-ending honors from their peers,” said Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. “Both players earned their awards with their consistent and steady play throughout the season.”
