It’s a season of record-low tourist numbers in Hawaii, which has meant record highs regarding the number of promotions aiming to lure you to the islands. United Vacations is one of the many places where you can browse good deals right now; following is one on its website that seems particularly appealing.
Deal: Through United Vacations, you can get a five-night package at the ResortQuest Kaanapali Villas, in Lahaina, Maui, for $1,866.26 total, or $933.13 per person based on double occupancy. This includes most taxes and fees (including fuel surcharges), but see “caveat” below for examples of fees not included. The package includes studio garden-view accommodations as well as a round-trip flight to/from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), a two-for-one luau and a five-day economy car rental from Alamo.
When: This ResortQuest deal is valid for Wednesday or Thursday departures from LAX now through Nov. 13, 2008. (Note that the free-car component is available on a number of other Hawaii deals as well, some with different end dates, and valid now through Dec. 15, 2008.)
Caveat: Some charges are not included in the aforementioned total, such as the resort fee ($12 per day, pre-tax) and hotel energy surcharge, paid to the hotel; state and local car taxes and collision damage waiver fees paid to Alamo; and airline checked-bag fees.
Note: The last couple weeks of this deal — the first two weeks in November — are most enticing to me: According to the ResortQuest website, you can spot humpback whales from the shores of Kaanapali Beach from November through April.
