Gustav, Hanna and Ike have whipped up a triple threat of storms to disrupt weekend travel. If you’re going to the Caribbean or anywhere in the southern U.S. or along the East Coast, from Florida to New England, check with your airline and hotel for updates. Amtrak is also suspending some service.
Delta Air Lines alone today was waiving change fees for more than 35 cities. And although Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) was open following Hurricane Gustav, food and beverage service was limited, and flight schedules were curtailed.
Below are links to recent storm updates from major airlines. Watch for frequent changes:
American Airlines: Waiving change fees involving all three storms for flights on various dates through Sept. 12.
Continental Airlines: Waiving fees for all three storms for travel on various dates through Sept. 8.
Delta Air Lines: Waving fees through Sept. 10, depending on the destination.
Northwest Airlines: Waiving fees through Sept. 7, depending on the destination.
Southwest Airlines: Plans to operate scheduled service to and from Norfolk (ORF) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU). But will allow re-booking without penalty for flights today (Saturday).
United Airlines: Waiving fees for flights to Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia through Sept. 7 or 8, depending on the destination.
US Airways: Waiving fees for various dates through Sept. 11, depending on the destination.
