Bahama Mama was cited for interference in her last race at Santa Anita and dropped to fourth.

Disqualified out of a victory at 20-1 in her U.S. debut, Bahama Mama will be a much shorter price Friday night when she makes her first start at Hollywood Park in the $62,000 Lawndale.

There are inherent risks in horse racing, as the euthanasia of Eight Belles at the Kentucky Derby proves. But to compare the sport to bullfighting and dog racing is preposterous.

Whether it be a $5,000 maiden claimer at Turf Paradise or the runner-up in the Kentucky Derby, it is painful to see any horse injured or succumb.
