Dr. Laura is 'stunned' by John McCain's VP choice, Sarah Palin

SarahpalinIn case you care, Dr. Laura Schlessinger is  disappointed by John McCain’s choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for VP.

On her blog, she writes:

"I’m stunned -- couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a 'mature' woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?"

She's also haunted by the Palins' political photo-ops, featuring "the eldest daughter, now pregnant with her own child, cuddling the family’s newborn."

She feels that when Mom and Dad both work full-time (no matter how many folks get involved with the children), the situation turns "chaotic."

"Certainly, if a child becomes ill and is rushed to the hospital, and you’re on the hot line with both Israel and Iran as nuclear tempers are flaring, where’s your attention going to be? Where should your attention be? Well, once you put your hand on the Bible and make that oath, your attention has to be with the government of the United States of America."

Despite her misgivings and concerns, Dr. Laura is still voting for McCain over that "elitist" Barack Obama.

Huh?

What do you think about Sarah Palin's extended family demands?  Does it matter? Will it affect your vote? Should McCain have found a female candidate without young children with special needs?

Dr. Laura is an idiot. This is a woman whose mother was dead for a few days before they finally found her. What does that say about her character? Obama has young children, but Palin isn't running for President. Obama and McCain are. McCain's children are older. Tho I am an independent and would have voted for Hillary, I think that Obama is wrong for the country. But I think that Dr. Laura is an idiot.

Well - now we know that Dr. L has been living her own elitist lifestyle on some remote fantasy planet, where only those with perfect kids and homes can work and have a life. What an insulting mind set - from the "doctor"? My wife and I raised an autistic daughter (still living with us and doing well) and an older sister. The day after we brought her home from the hospital, I went back to work. We didn't have special care, close family or any other help. We just did the old parent thing and toughed it out. Just like a million other families who are not elite. The condescending and pedantic Dr. L should just go back to the fantasy planet she wrongly arrived from. Planet earth is for real people dealing with real problems and real challenges of living, regardless of who you are voting for.

Dr. Laura;
It seem to me that you and a lot of people think McCain's choice is riddiculous. But we could clearly pick apart any of the candidates if we wanted to. I feel your problem with Palin is she's REAL,and a Natural down to earth human being with the same ups and downs as everybody else. I think that's quite refreshing. I'm sure everyone has said one time or another what they'd do if they were President or vice president. Well now
America has a chance to elect a person just like them, to speak and help America be the kind of nation God and our forefathers meant it to be! And remember Dr.L she's a woman
that's come along way. Give her a chance to show America what she can do.

Who is Dr. L to judge anyone? Just because you had issues with your own mother doesn't mean you can project that onto others. I would rather have someone real like Sara Palin in office than some phoney. I think a lot of people can relate to her. Maybe Dr. L should be the patient for once and work on her own issues bc she obviously needs help.

So, Laura is "stunned" by McCain's judgment and is still voting for him? She objects to Palin because she has a young child instead of being concerned that she is the most unqualified person to grace a national ticket in 50 years? If this election is going to be about personalities (again), this country is going to suffer (again). Nice job, America.

So Obama is an elitist, with only one house?? Oh, it must be because Obama doesn't resort to swearing at people until his veins are bulging when things get a little rough as Senator McCain does so frequently. Of course, Dr L. never impressed me previously with her logic. Why would I expect if of her now?

"elitist?" Dr. Laura's blog doesn't say anything about elitism. She writes that she's still voting for McCain because of the danger of having a "fundamental leftist... as president." At least pretend that you're a competent journalist. Your quotations are misleading, implying the word "elitist" is from Dr. Laura when it is not, at least not from the blog quoted. Are you incapable of reading a blog accurately? How do you have a column? You really should find a new job better for someone of your intelligence rather than influencing Americans with your misleading and inaccurate column. I really hope your boss sees this. Truly pathetic.
