Clark Rockefeller, kidnapping suspect, questioned in 1984 San Marino disappearance

Homicide detectives are in Boston talking to the suspect held after he allegedly abducted his daughter. A report says his prints may be linked to the death of a man and his wife’s disappearance.

Detectives said they had a hot new lead in a 24-year-old mystery in tony San Marino.

Two Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives have arrived in Boston to speak to a man in police custody there. They plan to interview Clark Rockefeller, who was arrested Saturday after allegedly kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter during a supervised visit.

The San Marino case involves the disappearance of a young couple – Jonathan and Linda Sohus – from their home in 1984. At first, friends believed the couple had gone to Europe. Nine years later, workers digging a swimming pool for the new owners of the home found human remains believed to be those of Jonathan Sohus. Authorities believe he was killed and then buried. Linda Sohus remains missing.

In 1994, the case was the talk of San Marino. At the time, neighbors talked about a man who lived in the back house of the Lorain Road property at the time the couple lived there.

The Boston Globe reports that Rockefeller’s fingerprints may be connected to the San Marino investigation. Steve Whitmore, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman, did not have any details.

Rockefeller has at least half a dozen aliases and has told authorities he doesn’t remember his past.
