South L.A. doctor charged with assaulting female patients

Dr. Kevin Brown, who is the son of the premier of Bermuda, faces 19 felony counts and is being held on $4-million bail.

A doctor whose father is the premier of Bermuda, already charged with molesting a female patient and an undercover LAPD officer, has been arrested for allegedly groping six other female patients, including a minor.

Dr. Kevin Brown, 37, the eldest son of Bermuda premier Ewart Brown, is being held in lieu of $4-million bail after his arrest at his Los Angeles residence this morning by LAPD detectives.

Brown, who practices medicine at the Crenshaw Expo Medical Center, was arrested after several other women came forward with new allegations that he molested them, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Ann Marie Wise with the sex crimes division.

Brown was first arrested earlier this month on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman in June 2007 and a female undercover officer posing as a patient.

Prosecutors asked for the large amount of bail because they believe Brown is a flight risk.

The physician is charged with 19 felony counts, including a lewd act on a 15-year-old, rape, sexual battery by fraud and sexual exploitation. The alleged acts occurred between Nov. 6, 2006, and May 31, 2008.

If convicted, he would face up to 25 years in state prison.

Brown, a well-known physician in South Los Angeles, also operates the Urban Health Institute of Los Angeles from his office. The charity seeks to provide disaster relief domestically and in South America and Africa.

Founded by Brown, the health institute has conducted fundraisers at the Playboy Mansion attended by celebrities, including Khloe Kardashian, Don Cheadle, Shannon Elizabeth and Hugh Hefner.
